Cosmos blockchain is ready to deploy the much talked about upgrade called Rho on its mainframe Hub. The project is set to launch the said update at 08:00 EST and a block height of 14,099,412. This upgrade is said to introduce several improvements in the Cosmos protocol.
Rho will enable new testing features on the Cosmos blockchain, and at the same time, it will also introduce a global fee module. This fee module is present in the form of software that collects transaction fees from users who are interacting with the Cosmos ecosystem on an international scale. The global fee module can also determine the distribution of gas among users across the globe.
Security Protocol of the Consensus Model
The new Rho upgrade on the Cosmos blockchain is also working on increasing security. This protocol has suffered from the threat of validators launching an attack by colluding with each other.
However, after the addition of the new upgrade, the threat will be averted, according to the statement issued by Cosmos blockchain.
Cosmos is a cluster of blockchain networks that contains more than 200 projects. The developers can create new decentralized projects on the platform using the tools and framework.
There are options such as Tendermint consensus and Cosmos software kit available at the disposal of users who are looking to create a new specific chain.
Cosmos-Hub is the central location that serves as a junction for all the chain projects on the network, such as Canto, Thorchain, Injctive, Evmos, and Kava, among others.
This network utilizes inter-blockchain communication or IBC protocol to enable messaging and data sharing among the connected projects. Rho is also going to serve as a port for a prospective upgrade called Interchain Security.
The next upgrade is estimated to make a debut on Cosmon during the first quarter of 2023. Interchain Security will allow each chain on the network to increase its security by accessing the validators that are used for the Cosmos-Hub.
Cosmon devs have warned the stakeholders about a possible downtime on the blockchain during the deployment period for Rho.
